about us
BajaBlue is a passion project born in the heart of the Sea of Cortez.
My name is Salim Méndez. I’m originally from Cozumel, Mexico, where I grew up scuba diving in one of the most beautiful oceans on Earth. From a young age, I witnessed firsthand the impact humans have on marine ecosystems, and that awareness shaped the way I see the ocean.
After moving full-time to La Ventana as a kiteboarder, life naturally pulled me deeper into the sea. It was here that I discovered an extraordinary diversity of wildlife—species I had only ever seen on TV suddenly became part of my everyday reality.
Many years later, that sense of awe hasn’t faded. If anything, it’s stronger.
And today, BajaBlue exists to share that wonder with as many people as possible.
Our eco-conscious expeditions support La Ventana’s transition from a shark-fishing community toward becoming one of the world’s most vibrant living aquariums. By choosing responsible tourism, we help create a future where the ocean is valued for its life, not its extraction.
We are a small, dedicated project working hand-in-hand with local captains, showing along the way that the sea is far more valuable alive than fished.
