November through July

When Is the Best Time to Visit?

The best window for marine wildlife in the Sea of Cortez usually runs from November through July, but no two weeks feel the same. Cooler months can bring whales, spring and early summer can bring mobula schools, and orcas move through when prey, weather, and recent activity line up. We plan around the season, then spend the day watching the water and letting the animals choose the moment.

November – Early May

Winter Whales & Open Water

Cooler months can bring bigger whales, mobula schools, dolphins, and occasional orcas moving through the rich water around Cerralvo Island. Every day depends on weather, recent activity, and patience.

Spring & Summer Migration

Spring and early summer can bring larger mobula schools, mantas, dolphins, whales, and orcas moving with the season. We use the extra water time to wait, watch, and let the animals choose the moment.
